The physical environment has a direct impact upon the wellbeing of patients. COLLAGE is developing design projects that implement cutting-edge, eco-friendly technology and design talent to create spaces that serve as prototypes for the ‘hospital of the future.’

Currently underway is a pilot project to bring ‘state-of-the-art’ flat screen technology to hospital waiting rooms. A departure from TVs, these large screens will initially exhibit footage from nature that patients will find serene and calming. Displays to be installed in patient rooms will provide patients the opportunity to choose from a library of images and films. We are partnering with AMERICAN ART RESOURCES, a leading art consulting firm that works exclusively with the healthcare industry, to implement this pilot at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Future projects will include works created by local artists and filmmakers. Giving patients control over their immediate environments can help alleviate stress and anxiety, and creates a more personalized approach to hospital design.
